As a resident of the Blue Mountains and growing up in Western Sydney, I am all too well aware of the dangers bushfire season present to our communities. Recently I took the opportunity in a Private Member’s Statement to acknowledge the volunteers in the Community Fire Units for the work they do in keeping our communities safe.
I paid particular mention to the Blue Mountains CFU, of which I have just recently completed my induction training. I am proud to say I am now a member of the CFU and the rural fire rescue community!
The work of the CFU is particularly important with the current forecast of warmer than average temperatures over summer and the prediction of increased fire activity with bushfires already raging across New South Wales and Queensland.
