PARLIAMENT HEARS OF ASBESTOS CONTROVERSY IN THE BLUE MOUNTAINS

Last week in Parliament I spoke regarding the Blue Mountains asbestos scandal.

I felt it was about time the Labor party answered for their incompetent mayor and colleagues running Blue Mountains City Council.

The magnitude of the asbestos mismanagement is breath taking. Workers and the community have been put in harms way through incompetence and cover up.

This may only be the tip of the iceberg on a decade of mismanagement and goes deeper to a Labor party culture of secrecy.

I call upon the Minister for Local Government to suspend the Council and appoint an independent administrator.

An independent administrator is the only way to restore community confidence in the operations of the Council.

The community has been waiting for their local member Trish Doyle to rightly criticise her Labor Council colleagues over this public health crisis in her own electorate.

All Trish Doyle could do after staying silent for weeks, is a media stunt with some alleged illegally dumped asbestos in the bush.

Trish Doyle’s inaction sends a clear message to her electorate that she will put her Labor party mates first before the community she is elected to represent.
