BEST AUSTRALIAN MUSIC TO FEATURE IN NEW BLUE MOUNTAINS FESTIVAL

A new three-day festival curating performances from The 100 Best Australian Albums is heading to the Blue Mountains. The NSW Government via its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW has secured The 100 Festival, which will take place annually in the Blue Mountains from 2020-2022. KATOOMBA IN WOTIF’S TOP AUSSIE TOWNS OF THE YEAR

Katoomba has placed in the top 10 of Wotif.com’s Aussie Town of the Year awards, recognised as one of the country’s best destinations to visit in 2020. The list released today features the Blue Mountains gem in eighth place, and is joined by two other NSW destinations; the seaside oasis Coffs Harbour in first position and Batemans Bay on the South Coast in fourth. NEW BUSHFIRE FUNDING FOR THE MOUNTAINS

As a local resident I know that after the initial impact of bushfire has passed it is the local businesses that also emerge deeply affected by the disaster. Portfolio Committee 7 inquiring into Koala populations in NSW had a site visit to Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour. While there we visited the Port Macquarie Koala hospital which is doing amazing work caring for injured and burned koalas with the recent bushfires.  Continue reading

BLUE MOUNTAINS BUSHFIRE ROUND TABLE WITH MINISTER PAYNE

I joined a Blue Mountains business round table convened by Minister Marise Payne to discuss further Federal (and State) support for businesses impacted by the bush fires. This is a follow up on the Federal Business Package recently announced. HELP IS AT HAND FOR THOSE SUFFERING FROM THE FIRES

I recently spent the day with my federal colleagues as we visited fire impacted areas in the Blue Mountains and spoke at length with local residents and emergency services about the recent bushfires and the recovery plan.
