The Private Member’s bill to decriminalise abortion in NSW passed the two chambers of the NSW Parliament after being originally introduced to parliament on the 1st August 2019. The major parties granted their members a free or conscience vote on this controversial and often deeply personal issue. It was a great field trip recently for the Upper House inquiry into the proposal to raise the Warragamba Dam wall. We were looking at the upper reaches of Kowmung and Coxs River at the entry of Lake Burragorang where inundation will occur up to 14 metres in a major flood event. Continue reading
Today I spoke in Parliament on the Reproductive Health Care Reform Bill 2019 and outlined in detail why I will be supporting this law reform. I invite you to take the time to consider my speech in which I address the concerns of opponents. Whilst this issue has generated a lot of passion and emotions it is heartening to see the state parliamentarians can conduct a debate in a respectful and mature way.
